Rigorous student assessment and differentiated instruction produce the necessary TOEFL scores in the shortest possible amount of time. Manhattan Review is a test prep company that has been known for its original approaches to standardized test teaching and learning since we first opened our doors in 1999. Manhattan Review's customized private tutoring for the TOEFL easily accommodates any set of student test prep needs as well as any specific TOEFL requirement. Passing TOEFL scores can range from below 60 to 110, and are determined by individual universities, divisions within those universities, and departments within those divisions. It is not uncommon for the same institution to have several different TOEFL requirements that are dependent on factors such as academic discipline and degree level. The general standard at Boston University, for instance, is 84, but the School of Management has higher requirements (91 for undergraduates and 95 for graduate students). Some programs are specific in their mandates for sectional scores. Candidates for engineering degrees at Carnegie Mellon University are expected to achieve at least 22 on the listening, reading, and writing subscores and an 18 on speaking, for a minimum total score of 84. Manhattan Review's TOEFL tutors consider individual TOEFL requirements in all their complexity, and focus their teaching toward the goal of producing those scores.

Manhattan Review's innovative test prep services have helped thousands of students accomplish their academic and professional goals. Our clients have pursued and completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at world-class universities such as Stanford, Oxford, Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, Princeton, University College London, the University of Chicago, Australian National University, King's College London, MIT, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Auckland. Meet an Auckland TOEFL Tutor: Jenni Q.

Jenni Q. has been teaching TOEFL prep and English as a second language for almost 10 years. She is a graduate of Emory University, with a bachelor's degree in secondary education, and of Indiana University, with a master's degree in adult education. She also holds a TESOL certificate from Hunter College of the City University of New York. She has been living in Auckland since 2013, and previously taught in the Indianapolis and New York city areas.

Jenni's student evaluations consistently laud her abilities as a teacher of English. "She quickly realized that my English reading was better than my English writing," said one student. "She came up with some unusual but interesting writing exercises based on my needs. My writing scores improved almost immediately." Jenni spends her free time keeping a journal of her teaching experiences, and she also enjoys following college basketball.
