Although the ACT has historically been taken by fewer students than the SAT, the former test has recently surpassed the latter in the total number of test administrations (about 2 million versus approximately 1.87 million last year). Many of the most selective universities in the United States still receive more scores for the SAT than for the ACT, but even at these elite schools, the gap has narrowed considerably. In some states, the ACT is given to all high school students (regardless of their post-secondary school plans) for the purpose of evaluating school performance, and this obviously contributes to the total number of ACT administrations. All American universities that require standardized testing for admission will consider either the ACT or the SAT, and most informed individuals now believe that there is no inherent advantage to either test. The best approach for students deciding which of these tests to take is to undergo a practice version of each exam, and choose whichever test more convincingly demonstrates an individual student's academic proficiencies.

At Manhattan Review, we have taught thousands of ACT clients how to receive the ACT scores expected by selective universities. Our ACT students in Wellington and other major world cities have been accepted as undergraduate students to elite schools such as Harvard, Princeton, Yale, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Brown, Dartmouth, the University of California-Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, the California Institute of Technology, the University of Virginia, Georgetown, Duke, and many more. After finishing their bachelor's degrees, our former test prep students have been hired by many of the companies on the Fortune 500 list, including Prudential Financial, New York Life Insurance, ExxonMobil, JP Morgan Chase, and Twenty-First Century Fox. Some of the major Wellington firms are also staffed with former Manhattan Review clients, such as Datacom Group, Bridget Williams Books, Contact Energy, Gecko Press, and Xero. Meet a Wellington ACT Tutor: Irma A.

Irma A., originally from Lima, Peru, was educated at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (bachelor's degree in education) and at Boston University (master of arts in teaching). She has more than 20 years of experience as a high school teacher in the Boston area, and she began teaching ACT prep in 2010. She moved to Wellington in 2017, and is now a full-time ACT tutor and classroom instructor.

Several hundred students have credited Irma's ACT instruction with facilitating their acceptances to their first-choice schools, including many of the most selective universities in the United States. Irma's vast experience as an educator gives her students confidence in their own abilities, and her test prep clients consistently give her high marks on course evaluations.
